by Annegret Kunath
Annegret Kunath, b. 1991, is a photographer and film producer living and working in Malmö. During her BA studies in Human Rights at Malmö University, she acted on her urge to combine the societal and political focus of her degree with a more creative aspect. This led her to begin her artistic journey during summer studies in analogue photography, development and printing at Fondazione Studio Marangoni in Florence, Italy.
While later completing her MA in Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University in 2021, she further studied Documentary Film at Linköping University. Today, she is particularly invested in storytelling, human interdependencies, and memory work, utilizing analogue processes as a diary and a tool of memory preservation.
In her collection and first publication Lonely Lands, Annegret explores themes of vulnerability, uncertainty, and searching for belonging outside of family bounds, paired with the all-encompassing feeling that things are going to be okay.
